Personal Injury Claims

Matt A. Melone handles all kind of personal injury claims, including motor vehicle accident claims, wrongful death claims, and medical negligence claims. Mr. Melone understands that it is frustrating to struggle with the financial ramifications of an injury while at the same time trying to handle the legal hurdles that are involved. Mr. Melone is successful in negotiating settlements without having to put the client through the stress and risk of a lawsuit. Mr. Melone understands that most clients only desire fair treatment and compensation from an insurance company and he agrees that resort to the courthouse should remain the last resort.

Mediation

Matt Melone has been certified as a Mediator, pursuant to the Oklahoma District Court Mediation Act. Mediation offers a private, confidential way to resolve claim disputes without having to go to court. Rather than face a judge or jury, the Mediator acts as a neutral third party and facilitates the parties in resolving their dispute amicably.

If you have a dispute with another person or business, and if you would like to avoid the cost, stress, and publicity of a public courthouse lawsuit, contact Matt Melone about scheduling a mediation to resolve the conflict before resorting to litigation.  Mr. Melone charges only $150 per hour for mediation services and mediation costs are typically shared equally among the parties to the dispute. If your schedule demands, the mediation can be performed after work or on weekends, by scheduled appointment only. Where financial hardship is demonstrated, Mr. Melone volunteers to handle mediations without any charge.

Needing An Attorney?

Reasons To Hire An Attorney to Handle Your Car Accident Case

  1. With a contingency fee agreement, there is no attorney fee unless your case is successfully resolved.
  2. You may not understand all of the different items of damage that you are entitled to recover under Oklahoma law.
  3. You may not understand how your own insurance coverage may be important to your case. For example, you may accidentally waive an under-insured motorist claim by settling your case against the responsible driver.
  4. You may not understand whether you should allow the insurance company adjuster to take a recorded statement from you, what they are entitled to ask you, and whether you can get a copy of your statement.
  5. You may not want the insurance company to have unlimited access to all of your medical records, which may contain purely private matters that don't have anything to do with the car accident.
  6. You may not understand how your health insurance can play a big part in your case and whether your health insurance company will be entitled to reimbursement from your settlement.
  7. You may not understand that your medical providers may file liens that entitle them to payment out of your insurance settlement.
  8. You may not understand that Medicare and Medicaid may be entitled to reimbursement from your settlement and how to deal with those entities.
  9. You may not understand the tax consequences of your settlement.
  10. You may not know how to obtain all of your itemized medical bills to submit to the insurance company for consideration in reaching a settlement. Most people don't realize that, generally speaking, the medical bills must be paid out of your settlement. Therefore, if you accept a settlement and then realize that there are additional medical bills, you are still personally obligated to pay all your medical bills.
